Tillandsia ionantha 'Mexican Select' Cluster is a form of Tillandsia ionantha from Mexico that is generally less common in cultivation than the Guatemalan form. The Mexican form has generally more desirable traits and is just more pleasing to the eye, especially when grown in clumps. T. ionantha is a very attractive smaller species averaging 1 1/2" tall at maturity. Normally green, while in its normal growing period, it will turn bright red when it blooms. Used extensively mounted on wood or in trees where the environment allows.
