Tillandsia ionantha 'Guatemala Select' is a form of Tillandsia ionantha from Guatemala that is generally the most common form of ionantha in cultivation and is very affordable. The Guatemalan form is very pleasing to the eye, especially when grown in clumps. T. ionantha is a very attractive smaller species averaging 1 1/2" tall at maturity. Normally green with grey scales while in its normal growing period, it will turn bright red when it blooms. Used extensively mounted on wood or in trees where the environment allows.
