Cv. of blanchetiana
Aechmea blanchetiana 'Rubra' can be distinguished from other blanchetianas by it's infused "hot" red color when grown in full sun. It has at wide leaf and a stiff leaf form. When in a juvenile stage, or grown in shade or soft filtered light, Rubra will have a softer yellow-green coloration although it will attain it's beautiful "hot" red and yellow color when grown in sufficient light. Attains sizes of up to 36" across and 36" wide.
