Vriesea fosteriana var. seideliana is a cultivar of the species named for famed explorer and Bromeliad enthusiast Mulford Foster. This old favorite sports a light red overall blush compared to standard varieties of fosteriana. This Vriesea can grow quite large with a good regimen of time release fertilizer. Averages 24" across an 20" high. This cultivar of Vriesea likes strong filtered light to maintain best color and form but prefers shady, cool and dry to hot, sunny and overly wet. More Vrieseas are killed by overwatering than all other causes combined,
