This cultivar, Aechmea 'Pinot Noir', has the basic upright shape of typical blanchetiana but with that deep Reddish-Purple wine hue. When grown in very strong light it gets a deep Burgundy Red color that is absolutely mind-blowing in it's intensity. Much more sun-sensitive than an 'Orange' or 'Red' blanchetiana, this beauty attains the same robust dimensions of up to 40" tall and 40" across but should be slowly and carefully adapted to early morning or late afternoon full sun to prevent sun burn.
