Aechmea blanchetiana 'Key Lime'

This blanchetiana hybrid, 'Key Lime', has the basic upright shape of typical blanchetiana that keeps a lime green coloration whether grown in shade or sun. When grown in very strong light it gets a lighter green to yellow color and dark purplish coloration on the tip of the leaf. More sun-sensitive than an 'Orange' or 'Lemon' blanchetiana, this hybrid attains dimensions of up to 40" tall and 36" across and with shorter more compact leaves. 'Key Lime' should be slowly and carefully adapted to early morning or late afternoon full sun to prevent sun burn.
