Tillandsia xerographica - Large

Tillandsia xerographica is a species of Tillandsia that is native to southern Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The name is derived from the Greek word xeros, meaning dry. This gives you a clue as to the nature of this plant in that it needs to be kept more dry than wet. Too much water and the plant will rot away rather quickly. Not enough water and the plant will shrivel up and die. A good rule of thumb is to provide a good source of strong filtered light and water twice weekly. Unlike many bromeliads, this species prefers not to have water constantly in its rosette of long and curly leaves, and water should be dumped out of the leaves after watering. What is most impressive about this amazing plant is the very large size to which it can attain, often more than 12" - 14" across even with the leaves curled up underneath the plant. Buyer receives a nice large plant averaging from 5" - 8" across.
