Ananas 'Mini Pineapple'is sometimes called the "Lunchbox Pineapple". It is rumored to have been part of an effort to develop an smaller edible version of the fruit that could be more of an individual treat. It ends up that this has become more of an ornamental although the fruit is edible and I have personally tasted the ripe fruit myself. Averaging a little over a foot wide at maturity, this cultivar needs some amount of full sun to develop the fruit to optimal levels.
