Neoregelia 'Royal Burgundy' is a longtime favorite hybrid created by Dr. Oesser from Germany. It is believed to be a cultivar from an original cross of chlorostica to an unknown plant. It is a deeper shade of burgundy than the original Neoregelia 'Burgundy' hence the more formal name. A medium to large grower averaging about 14" - 16" across. Its shiny leaf surfaces give away the fact that this plant would rather have more shade than sun.
