Neoregelia 'Checkmate' is a cross of 'Catherine Wilson' x 'Takamura Princeps'. It is a pleasant little Hybrid from Hawaii with dark olive leaf surfaces that flush to a deep burgundy with strong filtered light. It is a highly desirable plant with a good form and color. This Hybrid is a large grower attaining mature sizes of up to 16" to 20" across.
