Tillandsia capitata 'Moroon' is a spectacular cultivar of capitata that has very maroon leaves that can spread to 18" - 20" across. Tillandsia capitata is indigenous to Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. The capitata species grows in evergreen and deciduous forests and is highly variable in size, shape and color. This cultivar is one of the most special in that it has all of the attributes that make for a great show plant. The leaves on "Moroon', are stiffer than most capitata varieties somewhat resembling a Tillandsia fasiculata in shape and form. That is until this plant starts its blooming cycle, where the distinct capitata inflorescence takes shape.

Picture shown is of a mature plant representing what it can look like when grown in the proper conditions.
