The first Cryptanthus Species were discovered in eastern Brazil about 1831. Cryptanthus, also known as Earth Stars, earned their name due to their foliage shape. Small semi-glossy chocolaty brown plant w/faint silver bars at each leaf base. Warm colors enhance the beauty of this banded family member. 'Fudge Ripple' typically attains sizes of between 10" - 12" across. Keep the medium moist at all times. Cryptanthus suffer if they dry out for extended periods.
