Neoregelia 'Skotak's Tiger', formally known as carcharodon 'Tiger' is a magnificent carcharodon Cultivar that was introduced by Chester Skotak. "Tiger" is prized for its broad, bronze green to coppery red leaves with a deep maroon cross-banding. It is named for it's highly colorful banding (zonation) but when acclimatized to a full sun environment, can also take on a beautiful red hue over the entire plant. Found in an Orchid Nursery in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, but probably from nearby forest. This specimen can become a "GIANT NEOREGELIA" attaining mature sizes of up to 24" to 28" across.
