Introduced by Yamamoto, Aechmea 'Flamingo' is a beautiful cross of fendleri x chantinii that was originally imported from Hawaii. It is a gorgeous plant that has strong overall pink on its upper leaf surfaces and deep red on the under leaf surface when grown in sufficient light. It also has heavy silvery-white banding typical of chantinii making it an absolutely stunning plant. When in bloom, its large and very colorful Inflorescence will attract the attention of all that pass by. It is a large Hybrid that averages 30" - 36" in height. 'Flamingo' makes for a beautiful landscape focal point in the garden or in a pot.
