Aechmea 'Azur Nigra'

Aechmea 'Azur Nigra' is a Hummel hybrid of questionable parentage. It has been suggested that it might be a cross of nudicaulis x triangularis or possible hybrids of those from crosses of those species. It has also been suggested that it is a cross of nudicaulis x orlandiana which seems the most plausible to me just by looking at the form and color. Whatever the parentage, this is a very nice cross. Topping out at about 18" - 20" tall at maturity, this beauty likes lots of strong filtered light for best form and color.
