Vriesea 'Splenriet' is a Hybrid of Vriesea splendens that is also known as flaming sword. Vriesea splendens is native to Trinidad, eastern Venezuela and the Guianas these plants were introduced to European horticulture in 1840. The huge following that this Vriesia has is due to both its very colorful Inflorescence as well as its attractive foliage as well. This plant can grow quite large left to its own but is usually seen forced to flower when very immature. Can average 12" to 30" across.
