It’s currently the dead of an extreme winter, but take heart, spring is just around the corner. The country is experiencing cold temperatures and above average rainfall, but here in Naples, Florida we are enjoying what is turning out to be an exceptionally warm winter.

What that means for us is that our nursery is especially productive right now. We are getting more pups than usual with many varieties showing far more offsets than what we have seen in the past. As you would expect, spring is the busiest time of the year for nurseries so we are hard at work getting ready for the spring rush of sales by taking offsets and potting and re-potting chores.

Spring Means Sold Out Varieties Become Available Again

We keep several specimens of each variety in the offset nursery, and for the more popular varieties, we set dozens of plants aside for reproduction. Once we have enough propagating and they start producing pups, we can list those for sale. With our increased production, many sold out varieties are becoming available again.

Many of these plants will still be limited however, so if you are waiting for anything specific, please make sure to use the “EMAIL ME WHEN AVAILABLE” feature on the product page to be notified as soon as they become available.

Spring Also Means Continued Introductions of New Varieties

We also look forward to introducing a lot of new plants in the coming months. We’ve continued to increase our collection and are constantly looking for new varieties. This includes many new hybrids from Chester Skotak as well as our own exclusive hybrids and cultivars like an exciting new cross from Neoregelia ‘Skotak’s Tiger’ and others from Neoregelia ‘Hannibal Lecter’. These hybrids exhibit unique combinations of color as well as deep rich horizontal banding.

We really look forward to spring and introducing new plants, but we still have a lot of varieties currently available.

If you have a special request or just a question about future availability or anything pertaining to bromeliads, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

A Lafayette, Louisiana native and petroleum engineer, Don Beadle revolutionized the long ignored Billbergia genus of bromeliads.  Don’s love affair with Billbergias began when he was building his business, Macero Minerals in Corpus Christi, Texas. He and his neighbor, John Anderson began a friendship that eventually began his path into his bromeliad passion.
